Finally, the much awaited single by Harrysong “Sisi Boma”, is out.
Nigerian singer, Harrysong, whose real name is iHarrison Tare Okiri made it to the spotlight of Nigeria ‘s music scene in 2014 with his then hit single “Beta Pikin”. This is a big party banger that earned him a label deal with E-Money and Kcee’s Five Star Music. Harrysong’s coming was indeed a blessing to the top label as they collectively worked together to produce many hit songs. I remember how they hired the street music sensation, Olamide and “You Garrit” crooner, Orezi for the making of “Reggae Blues” that turned out to be a “national anthem” that buzzed at our nightclubs, parties, on the streets and at our beer parlours. They followed up with “Ebeano”. – another successful collaboration.
It is a fact they went neck to neck with some groups. For example, at a time Mavins “Jantamanta” and the rest were loud and all over the place, Five Star Music’s tunes also banged on our speakers. This happened during a time a co-founder of the label and music star Kcee’s career was dving- thanks to Harrysong who had now become the engine room and heart of the group. While Harry was writing and performing his songs well, he also contributed hugely to their collaborative efforts and wrote songs that later turned out to be smash hits for his boss and team mate, Kcee.
But later, a misunderstanding happened and Songz angrily left the label. His departure was a big blow them and I think Harrysong missed them too as his jams were no longer as big as they once were. He struggled as an independent artist for years without luck. Few years ago his contributions to the Nigerian music industry was, however, remembered and got him a spot in the executive council of the Delta State Government – he was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts and Entertainment.
Many of his fans were heartbroken and thought Harrysong had quit making music and would no longer delight them with his great melodies. Well, he shocks them with brand new bang, “Sisi Boma”. Though an all-round singer, the talented artiste has, since the start of his music journey, never hidden his penchant for upbeat and Gyration -themed sounds.
