Finally, the long-awaited single by Mavins “Waka” ft Don Jazzy, is out.
Legendary Nigerian music producer and singer, Don Jazzy whose real name is, Michael Collins Ajereh became famous in 2003 because of his partnership with and the musical chemistry between D’Banj and himself. They both relocated to Nigeria from England in the early 2000s to activate their music career dreams. This is an era I would never forget because these super gifted duo delighted us back to back with their ever-green bangers. It all started with “Tongolo” that rocked our parties and that which buzzed loudly and repeatedly on our airwaves and at our parties.
Tunes as “Mobolowowon” later took over everywhere. At some point Wande Coal was signed on the label and they became the “most dre@ded” music group in Nigeria because of the classics they jointly put out. In 2007 they made “Mo’hit All Stars” album that features Dr Sid and D’Prince and which houses easily memorable songs as “Close To You” and “Pere”. Shortly, Coal came through with the “Mushin to Mo’hits” album- a masterpiece that houses “Bananas” and “Ololufe” and that which confirmed magic would always come out from them.
After about ten years of arguably unrivalled dominance, things scattered like a pack of cards between co-founders, the “Koko Master” and “Don Baba J” and their business partnership was legally dissolved. In a bid to continue building a legacy for himself and his team, music executive Don Jazzy, created Mavins and signed then fast-rising Tiwa Savage alongside upcoming singers, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello, to his label. That was when you heard jams as Bank’s “Katapult” group hit songs as “Dorobuchi”, “Ada” and “JantaManta, anywhere you went.
Mavins “Waka” ft Don Jazzy, JVXN and Deeno is a brand new joint effort from the ever blessed music group and it is one big, sweet Gyration-themed sound. Gyration seems to be the trend now because music stars have gone back to it. Have you experienced Peruzzi’s “Die It” and Phyno’s “Ask Of Me Now”? If you have, then you would agree with me Gyration as Mavins “Waka” ft Don Jazzy, has become the new fad.
