[NEW MUSIC]: Phyno – “Ask Of Me Now” (Prod. by Jay Swaarg)

Finally, the long-awaited single by Phyno “Ask Of Me Now”, is out.

Nigerian rapper and singer, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, better known as Phyno, started his music career as a record producer around 2010 but later he realized where his passion really lies- Rap. In 2011, he launched his rap music with two singles but sadly, none made it to the top. Things, however, took a new turn in 2012 when he teamed up with Olamide- who was the fastest rising indigenous rapper at that time- for “Ghost Mode”. This was a hit song that convinced every rap music lover the former meant business.

Few years after the breakthrough, Phyno took over and dominated the Igbo indigenous rap scene while Olamide did same on the Yoruba rapmusic scene. The chemistry between them became so strong they had to do a joint album in 2014 which they named “2 Kings”- a compilation that made it to “Best Rap Album” categories of many notable Nigerian music awards. It is a fact for about six years from when he became famous, the indigenous rap act alongside Olamide lorded over the Nigerian Hip-hop space. Phyno became the most sought after Eastern rapper. These accomplishments attracted him to then Nigeria’s biggest stars including Davido, Wizkid, Timaya, Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, IllBliss and Flavour.

At some point in his journey, Phyno diversified with the introduction of Gyration-fused and Highlife songs. Few of such songs are “Fada Fada” and “Pino Pino”- a sweet Highlife-themed love song. In 2019, he came up with another dope album, “Deal With It” which houses big tunes as “Ride For You” featuring Davido. After the heat of that project cooled down, the fame the all-round artist once enjoyed now seemed like mirage.

He tried to stage a comeback in the tail end of the year 2024 with a collaboration with Flavour, “Men Don Show Face” but didn’t receive as much acceptance as needed. This year also, he has rendered some assists on some artistes’ songs without much success.

Well, I am glad to announce to you “Baba Obago” storms the music scene once again with this fresh Gyration -themed Highlife melody, “Ask Of Me Now” which highlights his current huge financial status.
