The wait is over as the long-awaited single by Terry G “Kolomala”, is finally out.
Nigerian singer, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, started singing and playing musical instruments at an early age. He, however, started doing music professionally around 2006. Two years into his career, he had become a household name. How did he do it? The talented singer who also happens to be a gifted music producer was making beats for ar great production skills, istes that soon turned into hits. As he was doing this he was also doing his own music. I remember his assists on songs as Ay.com’s “Pass Me Your Love” and his own song, “Halleluyah”. For those two years his songs (the ones he made beats for, his own and the ones he’s featured on) dominated our airwaves and contested with the big tunes of then reigning artistes as Timaya, Lord of Ajasa, Danny Young, Klever J, Da’Grin and even 9ice.
He did not stop at that. Instead, he worked harder and after all the hard work, he was able to come up with “Free Madness” . This somewhat freestyle evolved into what we heard everywhere we went: the clubs, bars, parties, the streets and banged on our airwaves. This song so big and widely accepted by Nigerians he had to remake it twice based on popular demand- he did “Free Madness II” and “Free Madness III”.
At some point in his music journey, Terry G, whose party trick was Street music and Afro-Dancehall, took us via a different route with a mid-tempo love jam, “S@xy Lady” that made us see the great art performer could do almost everything. After the heat of this particular music cooled down about eight years ago, many thought the “Akpako Master” as he fondly and often calls himself, had quit music. Few years later, he made some comeback attempts bit they did not work.
Well, Terry Ginjah returns with a brand new bang titled “Kolomala”.
Terry G “Kolomala” is one mid-tempo Dancehall-fused love banger.
