The wait is over as the much awaited single by 2Baba “Salary 4 Life”, is finally out.
Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia who is better known as 2Baba and formerly known as Tuface started singing as a teenager but started his professional music journey in the late 90s. He, alongside BlacKface and Faze, formed Plantashun Boiz. This group landed a deal with pioneer Nigerian record label, Kennis Music. While on that label, they came through with many hit songs as “You & I”. In the dawn of the 2000s, trio went their separate ways. Tuface almost immediately launched his solo music career with the release of “Africa Queen”. For many years no album for any African artiste could come close to its success.
Till date, he spreads like an Albatross on the Nigerian music scene. Despite the preponderance of many talented younger generation artistes, 2baba refuses to be swallowed up as he continues to put in work to endlessly serve of with his ever-green jams.
It is worthy of note the commitment to his craft over the years has attracted him not just to many great music acts across the globe, but also to artists across generations and from different fields. Let me start from the older generation:
When Legendary Nigerian Highlife musician Victor Olaiya wanted to bring back his classic, “Baby Jowo” he could not think of a more suitable singer other than 2Baba. They made that remix and the former was not disappointed neither were we. I remember when music executive Larry Gaaga wanted to launch his music career he sought the vocal assistance of Idibia and “Gaaga Shuffle” was birthed. When Solidstar was still an upcoming artiste he also helped on “One in A Million”- a collaboration that immediately gave the former’s career an instant boost and a new turn. Let us not forget when Wizkid was on fire as a youngster around 2015, he teamed up with the legend for “Dance Go”- a monster club banger. And lately, he teamed up with Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba and Nigerian-born Ghanaian alternative music producer, Oscar for currently trending “Save Me” . The iconic singer’s discography is so vast it would take hours to list.
While many of his deep, lyrically rich classics are still playing in our heads, he dishes out this brand new one, “Salary 4 Life”.
2Baba “Salary 4 Life” is a big motivation for everyday hustler.
