Finally, the wait is over as much-awaited single by Mr Eazi “Corny”, is out.
Though Oluwatosin Ajibade who is professionally known as Mr Eazi started his music career in 2012, he wasn’t popular until his release of “Legover” in 2016. It was indeed a huge success as it came out from the stable of Wizkid’s then top label, Starboy Worldwide Entertainment. His decision to join SWE was indeed a wise one as it gave his music career a new turn. Following the success of the breakthrough single he put out “Skin Tight”. It was so big it attracted popular British-Jamaican pop singer Stefflon Don for a remix that catapulted him to the spotlight on Africa’s and United Kingdom’s music scene.
It is worthy of note his style of music introduced Nigerians to then, a new and totally different music genre called Banku Music- a blend of urban Ghanaian Highlife and Nigerian Afrobeats. Mr Eazi ‘s new genre in no time spread like wild fire in Harmattan and many Nigerian artistes followed suit and started doing such genre. Even some of our biggest music stars like Wizkid, Davido and Peruzzi joined him in doing that sort of music.
Before we knew it the mid-tempo singer became one of the most sought after artistes in Nigeria. Africa’s biggest disc jockeys chased after him. I remember DJ Spinall had to put him on one of his most successful projects which happens to be his sophomore studio album- “TEN”. The The Cap Music boss teamed up with Mr Eazi for the making of “Ohema” and all hell broke loose as it ended up being a monster hit. While that was busy banging everywhere, Eazi made it to the tracklist of another big Nigerian-born international DJ Neptune’s “Greatness” album. From there his profile soared high and he became famous. Between then and 2023, he kept himself afloat on Nigeria’s music scene coming through with hit singles and dope Extended Playlists.
But in 2023, Mr Eazi for reasons best known to him, went on a short hiatus.
Well, he returns to reclaim his spot on the forefront of the scene with the release of fresh and sweet hit melody, “Corny”.
Mr Eazi “Corny” is a bit different from the typical Banku music- it is infused with a Hip-Hop sound and it bangs really hard.
