The wait is over as the much awaited track by Burna Boy “Empty Chairs”, is finally out.
Burna Boy professionally launched his music career under Aristokrat Records (a record label owned by his mother, Bosede Ogulu) in 2012 with the release of “Like To Party”. This was massively received by good music lovers both home and abroad. That was an uncommon feat for a new artiste that made everyone wondering: who is Burna Boy? Since then he has not, for once, left the forefront of Nigeria ‘s music scene. He yearly excites us at least with one hit song. I’m sure you are familiar with his big tunes as “Don Gordon” “Rockstar”, “Yawa Dey”, “Gba”, “Angelina” and many more.
In 2019, Burna Boy raised the bar for his contemporaries with the release of “African Giant”. This was an absolute game changer because it gave his music journey a new turn and greater as it made it to the category of “Best African Album” at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Just a year after, the uncommonly talented singer secured himself a Grammy award with his “Twice As Tall” album. He did not stop at those successes as he continues to grind harder to blow our mind with his bangers and timeless bodies of work.
Asides this talented performer’s tenacity, he has multi abilities. What do I mean? Since the beginning of his music career till date, there is hardly any genre he hasn’t tested- he has done Pop, Dancehall, Afro-Dancehall, Dance, Rock, even Rap and they mostly came out good.
While we were still enjoying many of his multi-genre bangers, Burna Boy hinted via one of his social media pages he was about to drop another masterpiece which is entitled “No Sign Of Weakness”.
Well, the highly anticipated music project, “No Sign Of Weakness” is here. The brand new music compilation houses several hit tracks including “Empty Chairs”. He teams up with England’s legendary musician Mick Jagger who is a founder member and lead singer of famous band, Rolling Stones for this fresh Rock-infused Afro Hip-Hop melody, “Empty Chairs”.
Burna Boy Empty Chairs brags about his successful music career and his unrivalled number one position in the Nigerian and African music space.
Lyrical excerpt:
You might think that you are sitting on a throne
But that’s just an empty chair
Hmm
And now that’s my I see clear
Last time I checked
There was nobody there
Hmm
Took my place without fear
Seems unfair but this is warfare
Truth on the loose
Cos my circle don’t need no square
Aahn ahn
Cos I dey on a long ride
I gat to push all my feelings go one side
I be real General so I can’t cry
I just said that is upright
You might think you are sitting on a gold mine
But it was only revealed
Hmm
All is not what it seems
Last time I checked you are only living in a dream
If you wanna know the good friend I’ve been
What are friends for
If not for inconvenience
