In the early 2000s Nigerian music duo P-Square (now Rudeboy and Mr P.) rose to prominence with the release of their debut album, “Last Nite” which houses many hit tracks like “Senorita” and “Igbedu”. Some other big sounds in the earlier years of their reign include “Story” and dance banger, “Busy Body” ft. Weird MC that rocked our airwaves, parties and dance floors. It is a fact their songs competed with then huge songs of big names as Tuface, D’Banj and Don Jazzy. And for almost a decade, they spread like an albatross across the Nigerian music scene. But in 2017, they went their separate ways. Subsequently, the big stature they enjoyed started to dwindle as they could no longer serve us hits as a team.
That same year, one half of P-Square, Rudeboy rebranded as a solo artiste to become Rudeboy under his own label, Fire Department Inc. The other half, Peter Okoye, on the other hand became Mr P under P Classic Records. The former officially launched his solo music career with the release of some singles which were considered a good start. He however attained the breakthrough status in 2019 with the release of “Reason With Me” shot by ace cinematographer, Clarence Peters. The short movie captures the impatience displayed by some women in relationships and marriages and has a theme of patience and endurance. Rudeboy who played the main character was a poor husband who pleaded with his wife to be a little patient but she couldn’t wait and left him. Later, things turned around and he became successful, rich and famous. Today, the dope film has attracted almost two hundred and fifty million views on YouTube. It is important to say while “Reason with Me” was still buzzing everywhere, he came through with another smash, “Woman”. This time around, Rudeboy talks about imperfection of humans and emphasizes building together and endurance in relationships. Since then the “lyrically rude” musician as he fondly calls himself has been on a roll.
It is no news whenever Rudeboy and Lorrdsky work together all heavens are let loose. He teams up with the genius Nigerian beat maker yet again for the brand new, great and soothing mid-tempo melody, “Billios”.
This is a big anthem for made billionaires and of course, a big motivation for those who aspire to achieve such financial status.
