Gold chains are fashion accessories made of pure gold. They are luxury necklaces and bracelets worn to express your personal style and to distinguish yourself. These items are expensive in the global gold market and it is essential to preserve your gold chains in order to prevent them from losing their original market value.
The truth about gold is it appreciates from time to time. What do I mean? They evolve over time into a more valuable property or bigger investment. Just yesterday, it hit all time high of $111.07 per gram. So, wearing a 28-gram (1 ounce) gold necklace around your neck could be more than just making a fashion statement; it also means you have an investment worth $3,148 around your neck.
It is therefore important that you preserve your gold chains to avoid early value decline. So, what do you do to protect these precious accessories? In this post, I will teach you 2 tips to ensure your gold chains stay in their original and good condition.
1. Avoid Scratches
Scratches are one of the things that could make your gold chain lose market value fast. So you have to be conscious and intentional whenever you wear these valuable pieces and avoid hitting them against especially iron objects. To avoid scratches, you must also ensure you don’t drop them just anywhere whenever you are not wearing them. In other words, put them in your gold chain box when at home.
2. Washing
Washing is another tip to preserve your gold chains. It is, however, difficult to know when they are really dirty by mere looking at them but don’t worry there is a way around that. How do you know your gold chain is dirty and how often do you wash them? It all depends on how much you wear them and the temperature of where you live in. If you are the type who loves to wear them daily and someone who lives in a tropic like Nigeria, it is advised you wash them bi-weekly because of sweat from heat. How do you properly wash and preserve gold chains?
To wash and preserve your gold chains, 4 items are needed: toothpaste gel; detergent powder; a soft toothbrush and a piece of soft cloth. When I say toothpaste gel I am not talking about toothpastes that contain baking soda or herbal mixtures but rather, talking about toothpaste gel as the traditional red Closeup gel. The first thing to do is pour some detergent powder into a small bowl. Add small quantity of water and work into lather. Next step? Add some gel in a small container, add little water and mix together to form a lighter paste. Now bring out your soft toothbrush, put some paste on it and then, clean your gold chain bit by bit and slowly in circular motion. Now dip your chain into the water and detergent solution and start to wash gently and of course in that same circular motion. After washing for about 5 minutes, remove it from the lather and rinse in clean water. Rinse again and again until your chain is no longer soapy or slippery in your palm. Now dry in that soft piece of cloth and store in your gold chain box or Nylon 66 pouch.
Well, I have just exposed you to 2 easy tips that would definitely preserve your gold chains from fast depreciation and help keep them in good condition. They work like magic!
