Finally, the much-awaited track by DJ Maphorisa, DJ Tunez and Wizkid “Money Constant”, is out.
South African disc jockey, recording artiste and music producer, DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is, Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, is one big name in Africa’s music industry. He is popularly known to have produced many hit songs for artistes across Africa. The multi-talented artist has (within) worked with the likes of his contemporary, DJ Buckz, Mafikizolo, Busiswa and Uhuru. At some point in his career he went beyond the borders of Africa to produce Canadian rapper Drake’s global hit song, “One Dance”. It is no news DJ Maphorisa has great liking for Nigerian music and has collaborated and worked with many of Nigeria ‘s artistes including D’Banj, Wizkid and Runtown.
Around 2015, the foreign DJ almost became a household name in Nigeria because if his touch on some Nigerian hit songs then as Runtown’s “The Banger”. He also has production credit for Wizkid’s “In My Bed” which we all know was a smash hit. Remember it was also around this time “Bombay” featuring Phyno came out and you and I know how great Wizkid’s performance is on the song and how hard it rocked everywhere: our streets, the clubs, parties and buzzed steadily and heavily on our airwaves. It is a fact “Big Wiz” as often called by his fans is ever charged up when it comes to upbeat/ dance sounds. Similarly, DJ Tunez has penchant for upbeat tunes and that is why he made “Iskaba” with Wande Coal which turned out to be a banger that stuck in our heads for years.
Well, it has become a norm for “Number 1” to delight us with a bang anytime Christmas is round the corner. This time last year, it was “Kese”. While still basking in the euphoria of their last team-up, “One Condition”, “Baba Nla’ teams up once again with his personal disc jockey and hit maker DJ Tunez, for this brand new monster jam “Money Constant” off Themba’s fresh music compilation, “SouthGidi”.
