Finally, the much-awaited single by Ladipoe and Ayo Maff “NBA” (Never Broke Again) is out.
Fast rising Nigerian artiste Ayodele Mafoluku Ayorinde popularly known as Ayo Maff professionally started his music journey in 2023 with the release of the likes of “Jama Jama” and “7 Days”. These are good songs but at that time they didn’t have enough force to push him to the forefront of the music scene. Things however took a new turn in 2024 with the release of “Dealer”. How did he achieve this? He teamed up with YBNL Nation’s talisman and one of the finest singers and writers out of Africa, Fireboy DML. He then followed up the huge success of that jam with more hit singles as “2 Dollar”. Since then, things have been going smoothly for the talented young man.
In May, Ayo Maff who fondly calls himself “Omo Owo” was done compiling tracks that would make up his debut album which also doubles as his sophomore music playlist after the “Maffian” EP. In the end of June, he, at last, came through with the then highly anticipated album which he titles “Prince of the Street”. The critically acclaimed music compilation is currently on the playlist of all enthusiasts of Nigerian street music because it houses banging tracks as “Hello” which is presently loud on the streets and that is busy banging on our airwaves and “Oshimiri” featuring BNXN.
Ayo Maff obviously has eyes for great artistes. This time around, he teams up with Mavin Records signee and Nigerian Hip-Hop king, Ladipoe for this brand new tune, “NBA” (Never Broke Again). It is a fact that latter has in the past blessed many lovely jams in the past with his delivery of quality rap verses: I remember his collaboration with Tiwa Savage that year and how huge and successful it was; his team-up with Simi, “Know You” was also a smash; and I will never forget his 2021 song with Buju, “Feeling You”. He does his magic once again with this fresh one.
Ladipoe and Ayo Maff “NBA” (Never Broke Again)is one dope, resounding Afro Hip-hop/ rap bang and it is backed up by popular female Nigerian back up singer, Nelly Baradi who backed up and blessed Mohbad’s “Ask About Me” and Shoday’s “Kilode” with her soulful, soothing vocals.
Lyrical excerpt:
Despite the energy king side
Na small thing to giving her big vibe
And every punchline like ring side
I like my life
P*ss off
Baby girl you know how it goes
Real bounce
No silic0n inside
Omo ma wo bo se n se
Ma wo bo se n se
Ma wo bo se n se
Ti n ba wa lola a
S’o le gbe mi tramaye
Omo tin ba na dollar a
S’o le gbe mi trabaye
Just drop the bag on the legs
I no go vex
Na my ex
Champagne dripping but i’m thirsty
But nobody bin dey when we dey sweat
No look face o
Mo ti dagba
Head too sharp for the barber
My skin too tough for the mallam
Dem no dey check am cos e balance
As long as i’m Igbo
I fear no son of Adam
Stack up all the money
We on the road again
Ladipoe and Ayo Maff never broke again
