Finally, the much anticipated single by Peruzzi “Die It”, is out.
Nigerian singer and songwriter Tobechukwu Victor Okoh who is better known by his stage name Peruzzi, became popular about eight years ago because of his record deal with Davido’s then newly founded record label, Davido Music Worldwide.Though the label functioned as a springboard for his success, it is worthy of note Peruzzihas been a huge blessing to it. They, as a group, have been on a roll since he joined them. If I start to discuss this we won’t leave here today but I will briefly highlight how this great talented has grown over these years and how mind-blowing his contributions to DMW and the Nigerian music industry is.
Matter-of-factly, Peruzzi in his early days “single-handedly” carried the burden of songwriting and vocal deliverance on his head and shoulders for them. I’m sure you remember “Mind” DMW’s collaborative single and how catchy, addictive and infectious it is till date. He did not do it alone but I can tell you for free his contribution on that is massive. Let us also not forget the label’s official disc jockey, DJ Ecool’s hot single “4U”. Aza is also one unforgettable banger. Peruzzi could pass for the engine room or say heart of DMW at that time.
When Nigerian music “OG” Kcee was about to get drown in the dark waters of the industry, he stretched his arm out to Peruzzi, “Hold Me Tight” was made, the former was saved. . He became so trendy as some point iconic Nigerian musician 2Baba had to host him on “Amaka”. You and I know this tune and how big it was. Nigerian Hip-Hop Enigma, Olamide knew his great worth he guest-featured him on “Unconditionally” off “Carpe Diem” which happens to be one of his most successful music compilations. His influence on the music scene became so Colossal legendary singer D’Banj wanted to stage a comeback last year, he did not have to go too much stress in his search for one of Nigerian artists who would make his dream come true- Peruzzi was there standing tall. He reached out to the latter and wrote a song for him that made it to DBanj’s “Entertainer: The Sequel” album.
The Nigerian music industry can never be thankful enough for the contributions of this super creative and history will definitely be kind to him.
While still basking in the euphoria of the success of his classics as “Sunshine”, Peruzzi unleashes a brand new tune, “Die It”. He teams up with three of Nigeria’s finest producers for this fresh, perfect blend of Nigerian Highlife and Gyration.
Peruzzi “Die It” serves a stern warning.
Lyrical excerpt:
Time for me to do some magic
I guess it’s time for me to bust the market
I don dey find my own solution
The one wey go make them fem
Wey go make them kpai
I remember how this nig@@s took for a joke
I talk my sh*t and dem be laughing
Me wey don dey burst since 1990 something
I have been to hell and back
I need some nap
It’s cold outside
Make nobody tell me how to react
