Men’s fashion accessories as rings, bracelets and necklaces are made from (but not limited to) raw materials as iron, chromium, carbon, silver and copper. Sterling silver and stainless steel accessories are not an exception as they are also made from these raw materials. What I have noticed is people often confuse stainless steel accessories with sterling silver accessories and vice versa because of similarity in color. The gospel truth, however, is they may appear the same but are actually not the same.
In this article, I will highlight the difference and also evaluate their qualities to ascertain which is better. To achieve this, I will use three performance standards: durability, beauty, and value
Durability: Stainless steel accessories contain nickel (Ni) which makes them corrosion-resistant and durable. Sterling silver are not only durable but are also made of almost 92.5% pure silver. It is a truism silver hardly ages and it is easy to preserve.
Beauty: Sterling silver-made accessories make bolder fashion statements than stainless steel-made accessories because the former are produced with a precious and highly reflective metal (silver) which makes them shine.
Value: Though far lesser than gold in value, sterling silver is way valuable than stainless steel.
Conclusion: It is obvious from the above analyses sterling silver accessories perform better than stainless steel generally in durability, beauty and in the market.
